Iga Świątek nie odzyska prowadzenia w rankingu WTA w 2025 roku. To już pewne. Zadecydowała o tym dość zaskakująca porażka 1:6, 2:6 z Jasmine Paolini w ćwierćfinale w Wuhan. Była o tyle niespodziewana, że wszystkie poprzednie pojedynki tych pań, a było ich sześć, wygrywała Polka. Na razie o drugie miejsce też martwić się nie musi, bo ma niemal tysiąc punktów przewagi nad Coco Gauff, a przed nią jeszcze WTA Finals. Ciekawie dzieje się za to za plecami 24-latki. Doszło tam do sporych roszad.
Turniej w Ningbo doprowadził do kilku zmian. Choć jeszcze trwa, to już wiadomo, że dzięki niemu spory awans zaliczy Jasmine Paolini. Włoszka zameldowała się na etapie półfinału. W porównaniu do sytuacji sprzed imprezy w Chinach przesunęła się z ósmej na szóstą lokatę w rankingu WTA i już jej nie straci.
“Pomogła” jej w tym też Mirra Andriejewa, która, mimo że była rozstawiona z “1”, to odpadła już w pierwszym meczu z notowaną o ponad 200 miejsc niżej Lin Zhu. Rosjanka w WTA Live plasuje się obecnie na ósmym miejscu, a może być jeszcze gorzej. Wciąż w grze w Ningbo pozostaje bowiem Jelena Rybakina. Jeśli wygra cały turniej, wówczas wyprzedzi Andriejewą i ta spadnie na dziewiątą lokatę. Do innych zmian w TOP 10 w najbliższym tygodniu dojść nie może.

WTA Finals nie kończy sezonu dla Świątek…
Iga Świątek skupia się na wypoczynku i przygotowaniach do WTA Finals, ostatniej oficjalnej imprezy rangi WTA w sezonie. Tam do zdobycia jest aż 1500 punktów. Jest więc o co rywalizować. Ale to nie będzie dla niej koniec zmagań tenisowych w tym roku. Wystąpi jeszcze w turnieju play-off Billie Jean King Cup, który Polska rozegra w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim. Świątek potwierdziła to w czwartkowe popołudnie. W połowie listopada Biało-Czerwone zagrają z Nową Zelandią i Rumunią.
