Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Travis Kelce’s Return with Legendary Reference

Travis Kelce will officially be returning for one last go-around with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025.
Chiefs general manager Brian Veach confirmed at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this week that Kelce informed him he would be back, per ESPN’s Adam Teicher..
Pat McAfee then announced Kelce’s text message to a “source(s)” on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” stating that he was “fired up” to make another run with Kansas City.
As the sports world adjusts to the news of Kelce’s official return, Mahomes took to X on Thursday with a post that referenced Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ storied 1998 NBA season.
Mahomes shared a meme from ESPN’s “The Last Dance” docuseries, which chronicled the Bulls dynasty’s final campaign before disbanding.
The 10-time Pro Bowl tight end is approaching the final year of his contract, with a projected $19.8 million cap hit in 2025, per Spotrac.
His deal also includes an $11.5 million roster bonus due on March 15.
Now that Kelce is officially in the Chiefs’ 2025 fold, the team can begin adding pieces around Mahomes that will fill evident needs in the roster. With that said, Kelce had his least productive NFL season in 2024, but still led the Chiefs in reception yards with 823.
Mahomes and Kelce have linked up for 17 playoff touchdowns, the most ever by a quarterback-receiver duo.
