Wimbledon: deszcz nie zatrzymał Tomasza Berkiety

W sobotę rozpoczęła się rywalizacja w juniorskiej edycji wielkoszlemowego Wimbledonu 2024. Pierwszy mecz rozegrał Tomasz Berkieta. Na kort nie zdążyła wyjść Monika Stankiewicz.

Po finale juniorskiego Rolanda Garrosa 2024 Tomasz Berkieta rywalizował o punkty do rankingu ATP, ale nie podbił kortów w tunezyjskim Monastyrze (ITF World Tennis Tour o puli nagród 15 tys. dolarów). Teraz przyszedł czas na grę na wimbledońskiej trawie. W sobotę warszawianin wygrał pierwszy pojedynek, który był przerywany przez opady deszczu.

Na drodze rozstawionego z “czwórką” Berkiety stanął Pavle Marinkov. Pierwszy set był wyrównany, ponieważ obaj panowie pilnowali serwisu. Decydujący okazał się tie-break. W rozgrywce tej Australijczyk prowadził już 4-0, lecz… przegrał siedem kolejnych punktów i w efekcie całą premierową odsłonę.
